I have driven past New Melleray many, many times over the past decade and have always felt drawn to it. In Sept 2011 and 2012 I was able to attend retreats there. I most recently brought my husband and three children to Vespers on Christmas Eve. By observing your beautiful example of grace, dedication and hospitality you have given me the courage to be more like you. You have changed my life for the better and I very much look forward to learning and modeling your way of life

Thank you so much for the beautiful casket you made for my granddaughter Alyssa Johnson. You had a hand in giving her a proper burial and our family can never thank you enough.

The Monastic Life is one of the oldest in the Church. To live the "Cloistered Life" is to live for God alone; to live in "silence" and "apart" from the world! I receive the little newsletter in the mail, MONASTERY SEASONS. I would very much like to come for a visit, too.

You are often in my thoughts and prayers. My time there over a 30 year span has always been a blessing and a haven! Your witness moves me deeply! God be good to you always!

Dear Fr. Xavier and Brothers of the Cistercian Order of Strict Observance:

Please extend my deepest gratitude to the Cistercian community at New Mellerey for all of your efforts even in the midst of funeral services for Fr. Daniel Lenihan o.c.s.o..

I am beyond pleased with the teaching we received from Deacon Joe Michalak, it was a critical moment in our path to ordination and your community added an immeasurable quantity of spiritual sustenance. I believe that the environment as a critical component as learnings were intertwined with prayer and prefaced with the Eucharistic celebration. The New Mellerey community blessed us with the perfect culture for exploring the depth and breadth of faith and of theology in faith and reason.

In the context of New Melleray these teachings were able taking shape grounded in solidity of the church which personally brings comfort and confidence. What you have given is the pearl of great price.

The trajectory of our thought was guided buy this culture of daily life in Christ so that our bows were armed with arrows of faith and reason. Our teachings in liturgical foundations, rich Catholic history, the blessings and challenges of diversity in the Church, and the examination of our Holy Father Benedict XVI talks given to various audiences were excellent. But most of all your generous service helped immensely to provide an environment that put our "arrows: directly on target.

It was a great blessing that this took place in the context of New Melleray Abby with daily Eucharist celebration and prayer.

Thank you a thousand times. My life has been transformed and will never be the same. We have been richly and deeply blessed and I look forward to being with you all again. In the mean time I will pray the rosary for the New Melleray Cistercian community with 900 years of tradition.

Love In Christ,

Jeff Olson

My Uncle Fr. Daniel had passed away on Sunday, at the age of 105. My family as always been the Monks at New Melleray, I cannot express how much love I have for all of the people that influenced my life growing up with my Uncle Daniel. I will miss him very much, but have been extremely lucky to have known the family at New Melleray.

Having been a monk, I know from inside that the journey back to Him is a hard and human task, an illusion if seen as an island in a calm sea. But beyond the walls, New Melleray will still be an oasis for a thirsty heart. Hoping to trek to the guesthouse in June with a cadre dusty pilgrims. Thanks for the anticipated hospitality.

Came across your website. Very nice and informative. Not sure I'm ready for the casket yet, but I'll keep you in mind.
God bless you all and all that you do for our world.
