LISTEN TO THE GLORIOUS MYSTERIES.

In these five mysteries, going past our sufferings and death, we see Jesus as our Risen and Glorious Lord. His glory as seated at the Father's right hand foreshadows our own state beyond the present life. Mary His Mother by her fidelity now shares His glory through her assumption into heaven and her place as Queen of all the Saints. We look forward with hope to join them in the eternal fellowship with the Father and the Holy Spirit and all the saints. Their glory in the heavenly Kingdom is meant for us too.

First Glorious Mystery: The Resurrection of Jesus

  1. The Word of God (Jn 20:19-20)

“On the evening of that first day of the week, even though the disciples had locked the doors of the place where they were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood before them. ‘Peace be with you,’ he said. When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. At the sight of the Lord the disciples rejoiced.”

  2. Meant for us:

The passion prophecy ends in an upbeat. Jesus who dies rises again from the dead. Indeed, he has risen and was seen by his apostles and other witnesses. His gift was peace which signified upright oneness with God. The barriers of sin and death are gone. God is our Father too. We are His children reborn in Jesus our Savior.

  3. Our Word to God:

“Risen Jesus, our Lord and our God, we acknowledge you our true King and Savior. Thank you for the gift of new life and of peace. Let not tribulations make us despair. You lead us beyond this earthly life into the new light and life in the fellowship of the triune God. Amen.”

Second Glorious Mystery: The Ascension of Jesus

  1. The Word of God (Lk 24:50-52)

“(After appearing to the Eleven) Jesus then led them out near Bethany, and with hands upraised, blessed them. As he blessed them, he left them, and was taken up to heaven. They fell down to do him reverence, then returned to Jerusalem filled with joy.”

  2. Meant for us:

When the earthly life becomes burdensome, at least we can look up to heaven – and await Jesus’ return. More than the heavenly space we look at, it is the hope of heavenly glory that we long for to share with Jesus. He walked our life on earth. He surely leads us to the heavenly life that he has come to impart to us.

  3. Our Word to God:

“Lord Jesus, now seated at the Father’s right hand, remember us who await your final return to bring us to our heavenly home. We remember too your living-giving word and heed them as we love and serve you and one another. We have something to look forward to and be joyful amidst the trials we still go through momentarily. Amen.”

Third Glorious Mystery: The Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles

  1. The Word of God (Acts 2:1-4)

“When the day of Pentecost came it found them gathered in one place. Suddenly from up in the sky there came a noise like a strong, driving wind which was heard all through the house where they were seated. Tongues as of fire appeared, which parted and came to rest on each of them. All were filled with the Holy Spirit. They began to express themselves in foreign tongues and make bold proclamation as the Spirit prompted them.”

  2. Meant for us:

Waiting for his return, we are not totally alone in this earthly journey. Jesus sent His Spirit to teach, guide, defend, inspire and assure us of God’s continuous presence among us. With faith in our hearts, we can “see and feel” the risen Jesus through the power of the Spirit. With the Spirit, we are empowered to move onward to our final destiny.

  3. Our Word to God:

“Come, Holy Spirit, fill our hearts with faith, love and hope. Renew us with your grace. Inspire us always. Breathe God’s life in us so that we may vigorously witness to Christ’s saving love in the world. Amen.”

Fourth Glorious Mystery: The Assumption of Mary, the Mother of Jesus

  1. The Word of God (1 Cor 15:53-55,57)

“This corruptible body must be clothed with incorruptibility, this mortal body with immortality. When the corruptible frame takes on incorruptibility and the mortal immortality, then will the saying of Scripture be fulfilled: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory.’ ‘O death, where is your sting?’…. Thanks be to God who has given us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

  2. Meant for us:

After centuries of the faithful’s filial devotion to Mary, the Mother of God, the Church affirms as a dogma that having completed her earthly life, Mary was gloriously assumed, both body and soul into heaven. She finally joined her Son and shared in His divine lot. Following the footsteps of Jesus and the examples of Mary, we hope to share also in their final glory in heaven with the Father and the Spirit and all the saints.

  3. Our Word to God:

“Heavenly Father, as you chose Mary to be the Mother of your Son, you also conferred on her the grace of total salvation after the merits of Christ our Savior. As she has been assumed into heaven both body and soul, may we through her intercessions also share in your heavenly glory with your Son and the Holy Spirit. This we ask through Christ our Lord. Amen.”

Mary assumed into heaven, pray for us!

Fifth Glorious Mystery: The Coronation of Mary, the Mother of God

  1. The Word of God (Rev 12:1)

“A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.”

  2. Meant for us:

For her unique call to become the Mother of God’s Son, Mary by her obedient love was given also a privileged place in heaven. She is crowned as Queen of heaven and earth. Being the Mother of the King of the Universe, she is honored with a royal dignity like her Son, Jesus Christ.

  3. Our Word to God:

Almighty God, you willed Mary to lead us on earth to her Son. Now as she enjoys total union with You and Jesus Christ, your Son, may we always acknowledge her as our Queen and Mother both here on earth and in the heavens. May we imitate her examples of humility, love and obedience to You who live and reign with Christ in the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth, pray for us!
